A Drawing Lesson

Being able to draw at speed, learning to quickly approximate rather than slowly measure is important. Working without an eraser, getting it more-or-less right first time is what artists and designers working from life in notebooks aim to achieve. The key, is taking your pencil off the paper as seldom as possible.

Lesson One: BALL OF STRING DRAWING
Execute in black compressed charcoal, directly onto the wall, then fixed with fixative immediately after completion. 
Draw free hand with no erasure, no tidying up. 
Each of the component images should be practiced on paper prior to execution.
Start with Image one at the bottom of the stairs finish with number ten at the top. 
Broken into bite size portions each image is built from “ one stroke “ lines.
First the big shapes - then the detail, then after that if you have time some indication of light and dark.
